Joy and the Lord's protections

[Pending Draft]

By Pastor William A. King, Jr.

You cannot serve both. You have to answer or address problems from one of two vantage points. The choice you make determines how your perceptions are shaped. The choice you make determines the outcomes you experience.

If you carry the knowledge and behaviors of this world into problem solving and decision making then your reward will come from the prince of this world and the outcomes are sown in unrighteousness. None of the protections and promises are yours. Social and cultural behaviors drive the natural man.

If you carry the knowledge and behaviors of Jesus Christ into problem solving and decision making then your reward will come from the King of Kings and the outcomes are sown in righteousness. All the protections and promises of God are yours. The Holy Ghost guides and directs the spirit man.

The natural man is not capable of living holy. The natural man cannot sense or respond to God appropriately. Aware of these limitations the natural man create ceremonies, holidays, gift giving, images and symbols as a means to feel or have a sense of holy things or a sense that these things please God. You cannot use the thinking of this world to create outcomes that please God.

The spirit man is always willing and ready to do serve to Christ and his saints.

Joy is part of the Spirits fruit. Fruit is one whole and complete. They are not individual fruit. The one makes the whole.

Heb 5:14  But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Spiritual senses does the following:

1Ki 3:9  Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

Eze 44:23  And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.

This usually happens after you have done the will of God. Not before. You cannot learn right and wrong from a book. Your thoughts have been socialized to think and believe a certain way. The thoughts and ways of both worlds are not equal. Both worlds are in you. Both worlds want you to serve them. One is forged by social norms. The other by interactions with Christ. Both produce behaviors and outcomes distinct from one to the other.

One exhibits bad behaviors and the other fruit of the spirit. We will continue to wrestle with these fleshy behaviors until one by one they are bought under subjection through Jesus Christ who is the author and finisher of your faith.

No one suffers more than a saint of God. A saint of God suffers for Christ. Suffering for Jesus Christ encapsulates all of the actions and things you go through to create change. You create change by observing and following Jesus Christ.

Even if you do nothing but try to live holy before the Lord, you will suffer. If you decide not to be saved and filled with the Holy Ghost you will suffer. To help you deal with the emotional influences that can follow difficulty Jesus Christ give us joy. How you see a problem will influence your reactions to them. Being clear about what is happening to you can turn a bad situation into a good one or make things worse. Christ gives you his joy because of the potential influences that difficulties bring with it. His joy is not like joy experienced from a memory or reaction to something you see or hear around you.

There is a difference between suffering for Christ or suffering as a result of:

  1. ignorance
  2. sin
  3. bad behaviors
  4. lack of knowledge
  5. being stubborn
  6. self centered

Everyone suffers in this world. How you respond to suffering is important to your testimony and relationship with Jesus Christ. Most things you suffer are not for Christ. Most of the difficulties that a saint will have is a result of:

  1. Problems created before being saved
  2. Problems introduced by others we decided to share
  3. Problems we create after being saved because  The way we solve problems have not changed.

If the behaviors of the saint has not changed, or their response to events in their life are the same responses done when unsaved, you will get the same outcomes.

Have you every experienced mood swings? Have you every felt unpleasant about something?

If your perspective is flawed the outcomes from your behaviors or actions will add too or create new problems. The natural man is not to be trusted. That's a different subject.

Introduction to Joy

Php 4:4  Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

The suffering of a saint looks like this:

Psa 1:2  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Psa 1:3  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Everyone suffers in some form or another but not as much as a saint.

A living sacrifice

A Living Sacrifice

Rom 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Rom 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

We suffer because of our thoughts that are still part of this worlds thinking. When we overcome those thoughts, then our response or reactions to things will be appropriate and please God. But when we use the old man then we offend the Holy Ghost our mentor, tutor, comforter, and teacher. The Holy Ghost will chasens us, corrects us so we will not suffer the same fate or punishment from the law of disobdience.

Deu 28:15  But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

If we don't listen, than the thing we dread most becomes our fate. But all is not lost, even suffering becomes an opportunity to grow spiritually strong.

Rom 8:26  Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Rom 8:27  And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Rom 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Remember Jesus Christ gave us tools and resources in both heaven and earth to assist our success in him. The Holy Ghost will teach you all things and eventually you will grow to never needing a man to teach you again.

Church activities

The role of church activities

It's interesting that today more than 3/4 of my life I have been saved. I have find few who attend church and do nothing else to be shallow in their thinking about the Lord. They aren't aware that the world around them is a rich ground to prove God and to let the Holy Ghost rewrite their experiences and knowledge about how things really work in God.

I find many of their words to be like scripts. Some are quotes from the bible, while others are misquotes of the bible. They are not the ower of those words; they are not a living epistle, but a photo copy of religious dogma. They quote David, Solomon, Peter, Paul, James and the experience of others who suffered and came out as pure gold and wrote about their experiences. Some lie to the people by preaching about Joseph's coat of colors and tell others you have a coat of colors.

Use this world

Use of this world to learn how God thinks

You have a life filled with activities. You deal with other people and their problems. Sometimes you take on the problems of other people only to find yourself walking alone carrying their burden while they go on with their life. No matter what happens everything to a child of God is an opportunity for spiritual growth. Everything becomes a dialog with Jesus Christ of how to best respond to that situation so that in the end a blessing is manifested.

Luk 8:8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Mk 4:8 And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.

Changed

Moving to the West Coast changed me

Moving from Detroit Michigan to the State of Washington in 1992 was the most rewarding of experiences I could have ever had as a saint of God. Moving more than 3500 miles from my Christian roots caused me to grow in Christ in ways that would have not happened if I remained in Detroit.

First, Washington State has the lowest church attendance in the nation. Second, what I learned at Solomon's Temple in Detroit didn't work to draw folks in Washington State. Most of the members who did attend my church, had been in the military or exposed to the east coast church experience and was seeking the same type of experience. But few had a desire to be saved.

Second, the folks I met were in pain. Spiritual and mentally damaged. Pastors were curing folks and putting fear in them so that the person never leaves. Even if the preacher was not teaching, preaching or at his pulpit on Sundays, the members of that church still came out of fear. But they denied being afraid. They substituted the word fear with the word obedience and love for their pastor.

I found that these pastors could sin with the women in their churches and little to none would leave the church. They would quote things like forgiveness. However, if that pastor marks a person, the congregation would persecute the person. If they are a member of that church, out of fear they would stay, until eventually leaving and being cursed by that pastor never entering another church.

Moving to the west coast forced me to challenge my beliefs.

Proving

I begin to seek God by proving him

The natural things of this world are now ours to use for our edification and growth. Although, not all things are expedient, but they are all ours for teaching and training. Then we have the Angels and all of heaven working with us to succeed. But there will always be opposition. As you are growing in God, you need to become more and more separated from the behaviors and attitudes of the flesh.

There is much work to do and as you begin to challenge change in your life, that is, to become perfect and holy in him you will be challenged.

Although we suffer we enjoy the joy that follows suffering. There is no other way to know how to respond to suffering than to go through it as Christ is leading you, authoring your behaviors and thinking about your trial and tribulations.

Testing and proving what you believe is extremely important because your beliefs may be filled with mis-information.

Testing faith

Testing of Your Faith

James says,

Jas 1:2  My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

Jas 1:3  Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Jas 1:4  But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Jas 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Jas 1:6  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering..

Joy is much more

Introduction

What is joy?

Google says,

a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.

What is the joy of the Lord and how does it differ?

The joy that comes from God differs from the joy that comes from mental stimulation. Your spirit inside can rejoice also. The joy that comes from the spirit is God's joy and this joy cannot be obtained any other way.

Psa 16:11  Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

David says, Lord my life is filled with activities. I trust you will shew me the way I should respond to things in life. How I to do things the right way. The outcome from my obedience and the reward of your presence brings me great joy. This my Lord is the fulness of joy and at thy side is pleasure that remains in my experience and testimonies forever.

Isa 12:3  Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

The type of joy that comes from God is the realization that everything is an opportunity to be close to God, to have him walk with you and teach you to grow spiritually and from that is the fulness of joy from the Lord.

Meekness counted a weakness

The meek shall inherit the earth

Isa 29:19  The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

I am an introvert. I enjoy being alone or with my wife of 26 years (from the day of this writing). Coming up in the ministry I was an outcast. My fellow ministers called me too deep or a know it all. I just stood there and took their criticism. My early years were filled with suffering and because I suffered, by choice, and carried the Lord into my desires to change; I learned what they didn't know and that made me different.

I was told that I need to speak up and defend myself. Boy if they met me before salvation I would have lost my temper and knocked them out with a single blow. Because I walked with the Lord, my interest were in pleasing him and not defending myself. So I let them. Today, they still preach and teach the exact message I heard them preach and teach almost 40 years ago. They still have emotional problems and their marriages are no more. What happened? What was different about me than they?

Outcomes from walking with Christ

Outcomes from walking with Christ

You can not learn how Christ thinks by reading the bible. What you are actually doing is assembling a picture using your own experiences and drawing a conclusion about what you read. In academia this is called reading comprehension. Reading comprehension is proportional to your education. The more exposure you have to reading and explaining what you read the better you get at forming ideas.

Reading the bible is no different. It requires comprehension and an educational background to read the words and form a complete summary of the context.

It is impossible to know how any writer things by reading his book. That's dumb to even believe that something magical pops out of the bible when you read it and that you instantly understanding it. Peter said the man reading the bible, understandeth what thou readest? He said know and was baptized. When he got baptized that experience added to what he read. Now he doesn't need the book anymore. He is a living example.

Isa 51:3  For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice ofmelody.

Isa 51:11  Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.

Isa 52:9  Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.

Isa 55:12  For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Every thing you do, means that you must walk and talk with the Lord about the thing. Reading is important, but doing is how you are made.

A universal God

Universal God

The reason east coast teachings didn't work on the west coast is because those teachings didn't belong to God. God's word is universal and works everywhere. Many of our religious teachings have been cultured. Cultured means,

Characterized by refined manner, customs and education.

An Apostolic church in America worships exactly the same as an Apostolic church in India because of the Spirit of God, the Holy Ghost. However, cultural living is also introduced into the church. In some Apostolic churches in India the women and children sit in different sections. While in America they sit together. In india they sit on the floor, but in America we sit in chairs or pews.

Observing them culturally, they seem backward and strange to the American mind and to them we are strange. But what is similiar are the things that belong to God. Worship, prayer, fasting and so forth. All things that are God's are universal, including the message we preach, which is Jesus Christ.

Faithfulness

Faithfulness to Jesus Christ

Walking and talking with Jesus Christ is filled with joy. It always amazes me when I hang on to his promises and he always come through. Some of my tests have lasted as long as seven (7) years and others were shorter. Every one of them ended when Christ was finally done with me and my responses to that situation was perfect.

Mat 25:21  His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Mat 25:23  His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

In my trials people always persecuted me or my flesh was afflicted in some way. But as I navigated the situation and learned how to hear God I always came out victorious. Amen.

Your nature

Joy is part of your spiritual nature

Gal 5:22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Praying with joy

Praying should be filled with joy and here's why

Php 1:4  Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,

Joy in temptation

Why did James tell us to count it all joy when we fall into different types of temptations?

Everything around you is for your use to grow in Jesus Christ and to become a perfect man or woman.

Mat 13:44  Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

The invisible God

Joy comes from being aware who authors your faith

Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Knowing

Knowing the invisible God is real

Having evidence in your experiences about Christ being real is important to your salvation. Without this knowledge you can easily go astray while seeking for religious identity.

Those who have learned Christ are independent of churches, church leadership and all the things that tie these together.

1Pe 1:8  Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

The joy of suffering

Carrying Christ into suffering

1Pe 4:13  But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

Being stable

Stablizing your walk

Jud 1:24  Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

Inheritance

Inheritance through obedience

There is an inheritance tax in American. Remember I said, Satan's laws, systems and world is designed to deal with the problems of the righteousness of God in us. This scripture below says,

Ecc 2:26  For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

To experience this and to pay inheritance taxes is really up to Christ to figure out. But what Solomon is saying is that your obedience to Christ, as you walk with him to deal with the life around you will cause you to inherit what was never meant to be yours. That you will gain a life that was never yours and prosper in it. Jesus told Peter, go pay both our taxes, a fish is carrying our money, go get it.

How to get full

Ask for something

Joh 15:11  These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

Joh 16:24  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in myname: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joymay be full.

Joh 17:13  And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
