Isa 58:1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.
Verse 1 of Isaiah 58 is an introduction into fasting.
In Isaiah 28 God sees how we fast, compares our fast to his. What he shows
us doing when we fast and is about the people of God and the institution that the people are associated with. In this cas,e the people are the Jewish people and the house of Jacob, like the church that housed the Jewish people.
- "Cry aloud" is the tone of voice
- "Spare not" is about the impact of the message
- "Lift up thy voice like a trumpet "is about the melody and the beauty of the words
... and through them shew the saints of God their transgressions and the church their sins.
